Dream House in the Country Part 3

Wow! What a week...I don't know when we have gone so long without posting...

Again, we apologize for losing all the images and recipes to last Sunday's post...We have had numerous emails for the recipe for the Baja Chicken salad, so here it is...

Grill 4 or 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts...cool and chop

1 15 ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained

1 15 ounce can white shoepeg corn, drained

1 large red bell pepper, chopped

1/2 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped

1 4 ounce can sliced black olives, drained

1/2 bunch green onions, finely chopped

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

Fresh bacon fried and crumbled

1/4 cup mayonaise

1/4 cup olive oil

Juice of 1/2 lime

Place the chicken, corn, black beans, red pepper,olives, onions,and cilantro in a large bowl.

Mix together the mayo,olive oil and lime juice...Pour the dressing over the mixture and mix thoroughy.

Just before serving mix in the sunflower seeds and bacon...

Dream House in the Country Part 2

If you've been following our blog you know that we are in the midst of planning and building our virtual

"dream house in the country"...

It seems with the hectic lives we lead...most of us would just like to put on our boots and get out of town...

We first explored inspiration for the exterior...if you missed that post click here.

We haven't landed on anything yet, because we've got to make some decisions about the feel of the inside before we can decide on the outside...We're going to be hopping all over the place for a while, until we land on a few solid decisions...and then everything will proceed from there...because that's how it goes in a real life project...

So today we dig into inspiration files for the inside...

We're seeing something like this in the barn maybe???

 And it goes without saying...there will be dogs...

We're feeling more of a rhythm...definitely some ideas here that we will run with...stay with us...this is going to be so much fun...

Building A House in the Country...Exterior Inspiration

The design process begins...the world is our oyster, right now. The only decision we have made at this point is to build our dream house in the country...that can look like a lot of things...

We're going to start with the facade...we're digging into our Exterior inspiration files...we're still all over the map at this point...

 

 

 

 

See...I told you our ideas are all over the map...we have to explore many possibillities in order to land on the perfect plans that suit our personal lifestyle...

Initial thoughts are emerging though...We would like some water on the property and rolling hills...A barn is a must...just haven't decided what it's function will be yet...We don't want a huge house...but have too many ideas for a small quaint cottage...that can be another dream project in the future...

Stone or brick?...not sure...probably a mix of materials...fabulous gardens a must...

We'll explore more inspiration for the inside next...and that will give us a better feel for the outside...Remember all of our design decisions are connected like a chain...each one links to the next...We want to marry the exterior and interior together. 

It may seem like we are hopping all over the place here at first...but soon you will see the method behind our madness..

Let's Build A House...

 We absolutely love to work on new construction projects...hands down, our favorite work...

Probably because it encompasses every phase of the design and decorating process...the sky is the limit...oh and of course the budget has to be considered  too!  Darn!

We're always trying to come up with something interesting to share to keep you...our readers engaged in the conversation...

Soooo we thought it would be fun to build a house together...not just any old house but a dream house...a "House in the Country"...

We'll start there...it's going to take a while, because these things don't go up over night...but we're already thinking about the next one...a" home on the ocean"...and then a" condo in New York"...and then an" Italian Villa"...

You see where we're going...This is going to be so much fun...

Just like any other project, we've got to start gathering inspiration...find a site, decide on square footage and ultimately the floor plan...so many things to consider.  It can be overwhelming at first...so many possibilities...but as we tell our clients all the time...

Each new decision builds upon the one before and as they accumulate the possibilities narrow and your focus becomes much clearer.  Don't try to put every single thing you like in your home regardless of it's connection to what you already have...these are the types of decisions we will work through together as we build
