Fabulous Finds!

Many of you know by now that my favorite word is "fabulous".  It's just so descriptive.  When I think something is really wonderful, it's like no other word will do.  Pretty ironic that the name of the antique mall where our little shop can be found is Fabulous Finds.

Right now we are in the middle of the most "FABULOUS" sale we have ever had.   We have additional inventory in three different warehouses    We thought about pulling everything out of Fabulous Finds and consolidating it all  in one big warehouse to have the sale.  We thought again.  Sorry, that would be way too much work.  Instead we marked everything down at Fabulous Finds a couple of weeks ago and continue to bring new merchandise from the warehouse to add to the sale weekly as space permits.  It doesn't matter how long we have had something , it's all on sale.  Everything is a minimum of 30% off and many items are up to 50% off.

Just take a look...

Antique leather books.  We have sold tons, but there are still several left.  We have a  new shipment of books coming soon.  They will be regular price.  Right now they are 30% off.

We have a  pair of these old iron benches.  They have only been on the floor for a week.  They would be wonderful indoors or out in front of a fireplace.  Wouldn't they be fabulous with squishy linen or burlap cushions?  The iron console behind the bench is pretty fabulous too.  It is a custom piece made from an old iron balcony with a distressed wood top.

Fabulous rush seat French chair with arms.  This one has age.  It has patina.  It is not an import and is less expensive than one that is.  There were two, but now only one.  Lot's of places to use this chair.  Just add a cute toss pillow or cushion.

Custom iron towel bars.  The finish is fabulous!  We had several of these.  I think there are three left.

This old pair of iron sconces is great as is or could be fabulous electrified.  Either way I would use chunky hand dripped beeswax candles in ivory or honey.  We have those as well. And guess what? They are on sale too.

The old lantern was off of an old post type light.  We  love to use lanterns on coffee tables, sideboards or powder room vanities with candles inside.  Use this one inside or out.  It's fabulous! So are the huge green demijohns on top of the bookcases.

Fabulous breadboards!  If you aren't collecting these you should be.  They look great stacked or leaning like a tray.  So much fun for entertaining.  The long low concrete planters have sheep on them.  Did I say fabulous?  I have one of these myself filled with dried lavender on the floor under the sink in my powder room.

We have several  old concrete urns and planters.  Fill these with mums or pumpkins.  The patina is fabulous on these.

This image is filled with fabulous things.  The painted mahogany Queen Anne chair just needs a seat to be the perfect little desk chair. There is a pair of the custom gathered skirt benches in natural linen. Sold separately use these with a farm table, in front of a fireplace or at the end of a bed.  Adorable little French cane back bench.  The throw pillows are all half price. You can't see the legs on these floral tapestry dining chairs but they have walnut barley twist legs.  Would love to slip cover these with short skirts to expose the legs.  Summer and Winter dining chairs.  How French?  How Fabulous?

There are two of these old shutters with Eastlake hardware left.  We sold the others to a client and had cabinet doors made out of them to go on the cabinets on either side of the plaster vent hood in their kitchen.  Will be sharing that project with you later, but have I used the word fabulous yet?  You can't even imagine how fabulous those cabinets  turned out.

These wood and iron industrial stools would also make a fabulous surface beside a small chair.

There is so much more to see.  We have chandeliers, tables, chairs, lamps, mirrors, architectural elements and all sorts of unique curiosities.

Some French. Some not.  All interesting. All Fabulous!

And The Winner Is...

Please welcome Elizabeth Moyer with Pretty Pink Tulips today.  Elizabeth is the winner of our antique book giveaway and she is sharing her plans for the prize.  But first a little bit about Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is the proud mom of two young boys and an aspiring yogi. She is very passionate about living, giving and entertaining with style and grace. Although she is a native Texan, Elizabeth currently resides in New York.

In our last post, we asked what you would do if you were the winner of the antique leather book giveaway. Now that we have a winner, Elizabeth has shared her plans for the prize with us. Here's Elizabeth on her new antique leather books.

What a thrill to win the Providence Ltd Antique Book Give Away! I agree with Mona that decorating is easier with books than without them. I stack them, lean them, use them to add height and depth to spaces. And, I have the perfect space in my guest bedroom that could use some more books. The ones I have in there are all white (I took the book jackets off) or have a neutral cover. These will add some depth and richness.

The guest room is used by our family and friends numerous times a year and I wanted it to suit both masculine and feminine guests...and the look of antique leather books does exactly that. They will lend a sense of mystery, history...and add to the story of the house.

Books are art with a purpose. Find ones that appeal to you...and your bookshelves will tell your story.

Happy reading everyone!

Elizabeth (Pretty Pink Tulips)

Thank you Elizabeth for taking time to be here with us today at Providence Ltd. We really enjoyed you sharing how you plan to use the antique leather books! We're sure they will fit well with your other books!

What Will You Do With ...

These Books if you are the winner of our giveaway?

Decorating with books is really easy.  Decorating without them is more of a challenge.

This living room designed by  Houston designer, Ashley Goforth is really beautiful.  The neutral color palette, generous sized furnishings with lovely slip-covers, gorgeous rug, fabulous drapes that frame the window perfectly, pretty pillows, nice art above the fireplace, appropriate lamps (no resin here) ,and well edited accessories that include coffee table books and interesting pottery collection in the bookshelves...Pretty much perfection.

However, I would love to see the home owner start collecting beautiful honey colored antique leather books to add to the pottery collection in the bookshelves.  One of the reasons this room is so beautiful is that it has been well edited.  It is a very undecorated looking decorated room.  In our book, those are the best.  But antique leather books would add warmth, character and a little history here.  I'm always more comfortable in a room filled with books and these shelves are screaming for beautiful antique ones.

When we get to the comments you'll have give us your opinion.  But for now I've got to announce the winner of the antique leather books that "Sister" and I are giving away.  A huge thanks to everyone that has followed and commented this past week.  We hope you will keep coming back.  Your feedback has been great, and we've really enjoyed the conversation.

It's fun to give things away and we are so excited to announce that our new friend Elizabeth with Pretty Pink Tulips is the winner of the antique leather books. Now it's your turn Elizabeth. What will you do with these books?

Wouldn't it be great if everyone could win? For those of you that are wanting to start your own collection or add to one you already have, contact me or visit Providence Ltd. at Fabulous Finds.  We are having a huge sale right now and the leather books are included.

The Perfect Pitch

If you know me, you know that wonderful houses get me really excited.  The cover house of the August issue of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles does not disappoint.  I am amazed that this home was built on spec.  The developer was John Mears, architect was Stan Dixon and builder was Benecki Fine Homes.  The designer was Betty Burgess.

Holly, with Things That Inspire, did a fabulous post following the story of the house from spec development to magazine cover.

This is such a beautiful home. The exterior makes you anticipate what's to come on the inside!

The inside courtyard is decked with a grassy center surrounded by pea gravel paths.  Looks pretty good huh?

But just look what the homeowners did after they bought the house.  This is , ok you know my favorite word by now, FABULOUS!!  The paved bluestone and landscaping with the addition of the pool is over the top!

This picture illustrates the bones of the kitchen and the layout.

The kitchen was lovely before, but it's even more splendid after being designed by Betty Burgess.

The photo above shows the exquisite library before the design phase.

The blue velvet furniture and accents really pop against the warm earthtones in the library.

As you can see, the living room is very spacious and open.

Betty Burgess did a wonderful job of completing a formal and casual split between the two sides of the living room.

The idea to use a window above the sink in the powder room is very unique.

The finishing touches to the powder room are very beautiful. The wall design is infused into the bench upholstery.

For complete commentary from Holly visit Things That Inspire.  She obviously really knows this house and did a great job filling us in on all the details.  For the original article from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, click here.

I think the addition of the pool and the landscaping around it has to be one of my favorite additions.  What do you think about this spec house?  Pretty amazing huh?  Do you have a favorite part?

It's your turn.  Lets talk!

P.S. Stay tuned.  We'll be announcing the winner of the Antique leather books on Monday!  You don't want to miss that.  It just might be you!
