A Shared Symphony
Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 01:00AM
"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, to all bravely await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony."
William Henry Channing (1810-1884)

What could we possibly add to what William Henry Channing had to say that would be of any worth?
This simple unpretentious beauty is our best attempt.
The vast array of beautiful images presented are from a list of talented designers,
photographers and bloggers from all over the world. In our own ways we each attempt to do the same every day...
Speak from our hearts and share found beauty.
It's a life's symphony played just for you.
It's your turn. Let's talk.
We are thrilled to participate in an international blog party today.

Precious images. I MUST have that darling little girl for a grandchild!
Did it! (yeah!)
Dear Mona,
Such beautiful images to depict Channing's words and to show what beautiful things there are in this world that are free. It's lovely to be part of 'By Invitation Only' with you. XXXX
Hello! I popped in yesterday and read your wonderful post, but wasn't able to comment for some reason. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the images you have used and I book marked so many of them. That little girl with the apples.. Just gorgeous!
Thank you for stopping by to read my interpretation of the quote too. What a fun initiative this is by Marsha.

Such beautiful, evocative images, Mona, and I love what you had to say. Best...Victoria
Lovely...
Tomorrow is my beloved daughter, Grace's eighth birthday. Her GOLDEN birthday. The number eight is also a mobius strip, the symbol for eternity. At this late hour I was still at a loss as to how to represent my eternal love for her. You just gave me an idea...

Absolutely beautiful collection of images. The kind that make you sigh out loud! Fantastic way to end the day!
I am breathless looking at these beautiful images.... ahhh!!
Well, I just took a much-needed, long, deep breath! Thank you for the lovely symphony - the beautiful pictures and the refreshment of simplicity. One of my husband's favorite scripture comes from Proverbs 30, where it says,
"Give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and deny You
and say, 'who is the Lord?'
Or I may become poor and steal
and so dishonor the name of my God."
Thanks Mona. XOXO Vicki
Mona, this probably won't
surprise you, but I have that
very quote framed and it rests
on top of my jewelry box, as
it's a true gem. Loved all the
exquisite photos, too!

My comment didn't go
through, so trying this, again....
I have this wonderful quote
framed, on top of the jewelry
box that my dad made me when
I was a young girl. Two things
that I dearly treasure! I loved
all of the beautiful photos that
you included in this post, Mona.
Just lovely.

Ohhhh, Mona, what a stunningly beautiful post !! As you know, I've been out of internet touch for a whole week as we cruised along the wild Alaskan coastline...so I'm tardy to the party. I am just overwhelmed with gratefulness to all of you, to have you as my real virtual friends and know how much thought and wit each of you put into these posts makes me realize the power of respect and friendship. I love the double-sink photo with the beautiful gilted pieces on the edge, it's beautiful and says so much to me. Thank you once again, cookie, you hit a home run on this. xx's Marsha
