It's Friday and it's Fabulous!..Clothe Your Dining Table

We have a new obsession...You don't like your dining table or can't afford just the right one...

Put a cloth on it...but we're not talking about just any old cloth.

My friend Renae Moore  who just visited me from Atlanta recently did a lined to the floor cloth for a round dining table out of commercial grade creme burlap.  So affordable yet so fabulous!

What do you think?  Would you ever consider doing this?

It's your turn.  Let's Talk!

What a fabulous wealth of ideas! I adore the rustic crumpled linen, particularly the Pamela Pierce and yes if I love the colour and texture of a fabric I will use anything! Warmest wishes from a 500 year old farmhouse in England! Glenda xxx

Love this look.... We've even done for clients who just had a plywood table and base because the didn't want the big round table and wanted to be able to change out the cloths seasonally.......Also some in sunbrella for those outside dining areas..... Maryanne xo

I'd first have to check to see how itchy it would be. We've done this for parties in the past and guests DO notice!
The other thing would be to see if you can discern an odor. Some burlaps smell a tad funky.

Looks great, though!

I have my dining room table covered to the floor with a diamond quilt white cloth from Ballard. I have had it that way for years. Love it!! I can not imagine it uncovered any more. I have thougt about using a different full length cloth, but have not come up with one that I like better so far. You can see it on my sidebar in my dining room. It is not as elaborate as these but I still love it. I am coveting the blue and white porcelain shot, OH MY!!! Have a wonderful weekend sweetie, Kathysue

I definitely would now! I love these images - how great would it be to put a smaller table in front of the fireplace (even if thats in the living room) and cover it in some lucious fabrics like these for an intimate dinner for two or an intimate dinner party with old friends? It would tranform the whole experience...great post! Also - thank you so much for your kind words about my selections for Linen Haus - it means a lot to me since I admire your style so much! Have a great weekend....Barbara

My 2nd comment. (Ignore the first one If you got it!)

I put a burlap table cloth on our dining table for the holidays. We are still in the young kids stage, so a table cloth will last one meal - at the best! But one day, one day my dining room will also have that added layer of loveliness!

Gorgeous images!

Happy weekend dear Mona, we are off to Portland for some family fun!

I love this design idea because you can literally change the entire look of your dining room depending on the material and kind of cloth used!

Great images!

What a lovely post. Personally, my favorite is John Saladino's dining room. In truth, I could live in any room he designs. If you are in NYC, as I was this week, give yourself a treat and visit his showroom at the New York Design Center. I promise it will provide you with tons of inspiration.

Mona,

All of the tables are beautiful. Isn't it amazing what a change in tablecloths can do to change the look not only of the table itself but the room as well.

Love all these beautiful examples and would most definitely consider doing the kind of draped cloth Renae did - what a great idea!!

I love these! I also love round tables. Next dining table will be a round one with feminine-looking upholstered chairs. I often have small dinner parties, I love cooking for my friends and decorating the table. The yellow/blue photo is my favorite of this group, but truly I love all of them. Just beautiful, Mona.

Yes, I would definitely consider a floor skirt for my dining table...but more importantly, after seeing these photos...I am going to paint the chairs! Great inspiration!

I like your idea, I put a burlap table cloth on our dining table for the holidays. It looks very best and now a days it is very easy to get from any market.

Definitely! I have a few tables that I love to cover, and even chairs for that matter—sometimes it's the greatest way to give it a new look :)
