Powder Room Love...

We just love a beautiful powder room.  It's the one spot in your home that guests will soak up virtually all of the details.  It need not be dressy, that all depends on the style of your home. Without a doubt, it needs to be special.

When considering the design of the powder room you should really  make a statement.  It's a wonderful place to be bold or add a little glamour...

These last images are some of our work...

This is a current project that is not complete.  The vanity was fashioned from an old piece of iron found in our travels.  The top is a very thick piece of distressed stained wood.  Old painted shutters are still to be hung on either side of the window with lighted sconces mounted on them.  Still pondering the mirror.  Will either be one fabulous piece or a collection of smaller old mirrors on the adjacent wall.  We'll post pictures when this is finished.

What do you think?  How important is the powder room to you?

It's your turn.  Let's talk!

I feel the powder room is one the most important little gems in a home. Most all of your visitors will check it out at some point and will have a quiet moment to take it all in, I have a collection of handtowels with embroidered initials, special soap, a candle or something blooming. My wallpaper is neutral, but not boring. I have a tiny sink, but it is set into a mirrored chest to give the illusion of space. I just adore a powder room, can you tell?!!! Love your work in progress.....can't wait to see how you finish it off.

I agree with you, the powder room is where you can really shine. It is so fun to be go a little crazy. I always tell clients this is a room that you don't live in, just visit once in a while, so they can take more risks with it. We do have the same tastes. I have a few of these in my files, but glad to add some I didn't have.

I powder room is studied more by guests than any. It is the only time a room is given undivided attention.
These powder rooms are gorgeous and I lost count of my favorites. Love, love the stone sinks. Your work is stunning, Mona.

I love powder rooms, too,! They set the tone for the whole house. In ours we had the ceiling painted black and then covered it with gold leaf. My favorite part though is the big, heavy iron cross we hung over the mirror. Your pic are beautiful!

Sadly, with a 1920's farmhouse, the powder room was not included... guess the original owners never had people over who would need it! But if I had one, these images would be wonderful inspirations - I could lock myself in any of these and never come out!

Beautiful work by you and your sister!!! I was so inspired and the images were fabulous and I couldn't agree more that the powder room should be a little jewel box!
