Sunday Supper...Casual and Romantic

A grand party for Valentines Day would be nice...I would invite all of my friends...

(1)

Just before the party was scheduled to begin, Don would have all of these lovely gifts delivered just for me...

 (2)

We would gaze into each other's eyes romantically and dance the night away...

(3)

And then... And then I woke up and realized it was all a dream and I needed to get my act together and plan a Valentines Sunday Supper!

Oh well, it was a nice dream. In reality our plans will be casual, but romantic none the less..

My inspiration for this evening...

Shaved Asparagus Pizza was the fare in an earlier Sunday Supper Post. I'm going to use that recipe and try my hand at the heart shape.  It's just so cute!  Click here for the pizza recipe.

Strawberrie Romaine Salad is light , beautiful and deliciious.

Strawberrie Romaine Salad Recipe

1 Cup Vegetable Oil

3/4 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup Red Wine Vinegar

2 Cloves of Garlic Minced

1/2 Teaspoon of Salt

1/2 Teaspoon of Paprika

1/2 Teaspoon of White Pepper

1 Large head of Romaine Lettuce

1 Head Boston Lettuce

1 Pint Strawberries Sliced

1 Cup Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese

1 Cup Sugar Coated Walnuts

For the Dressing...

Combine the oil, sugar, vinegar, garlic, salt, papriaka and pepper in a large jar.  Cover and shake vigorously.  Store for up to one week in the refrigerator.

For The Salad...

Cut or tear the Romaine and Boston lettuce int0 bite-size pieces.  Combine with the strawberries, cheese and walnuts in a bowl and toss to mix.  Shake the dressing and add just before serving.  Toss to mix.

Serves six.

A nice bottle of red for me...Don doesn't drink, but it's Valentines Day ...

Quintessence had some great recommendations for celebratory wines on Wednesday...

A nice Rosso di Montalcino (She calls these the baby Brunellos), are full of bright delicious sangiovese grape varietals and perfect with the flavor of the asparagus and the earthiness of the mushrooms that I will probably add. Mocali Rosso di Montalcino 2007 at $25 or Poggio Antico 2006 Rosso di Montalcino at $30 would be excellent choices (photo pictures the 2007). I'll just have a single glass since another course is coming.

(There were lots of good ideas besides the wine for a great little Valen tine celebration for two.  Click here.

It just wouldn't be Valentines Day without Chocolate ...

One last toast with the Chocolate Creme Brulee...

Another recommendation from Quintessence...

You already know that the candles and fire are lit...

The music is playing...

  (5)

And the table is all set...

(6)

(7)

Happy Valentines Day!  Hopefully we'll be celebrating together for many years to come...

What a fabulous Valentine's celebration! So wish we could do one of these all together!! Waiting on the hubbie tonight....just called to say he'll be late. * sigh *

Gotta corral my little boys....I've sugared them up sufficiently. After a quick bath and tuck in...mama can have her champagne! :)
